An accidental trip to see a waterfall: Falls Park on the Reedy

What a cool and hidden hike! It’s right in the middle of downtown Greenville. We had planned a trip to the zoo, but it sold out just before we reached the gate. We let the kids play at the playground next door while we looked for something else in Greenville to occupy and wear out the knights. Every search turned up Falls Park on the Reedy. It’s downtown and not visible at all from the road. You can park downtown and then walk to the entry and down the path or a number of stone steps to reach the falls.

There were a lot of people there, but I never felt crowded. There are paths, large porch swings, a suspension bridge, and pavilions. Dogs, bikes, and skates all seemed to be welcome along with their people. You can climb on the rocks also, which we let the knights try on a small scale. They are marvelous climbers, but my heart can only take so much.

After a good hike down and around the falls, we stopped for a self-serve froyo on the way back to the car. There are several restaurants and treat shops around. If you are ever in Greenville, you just have to make this a stop!
