Animal Haven of Asheville

We had a great time at a little rescue farm down the road from us. The knights loved every moment! First, there is no admission fee! Park, walk in. There is a donation box and a cute little thrift shop to benefit the farm.

For the knights, it is like walking through a magical land just to get in, past the bamboo forest, over the creek and through the gate. It is fairly stroller or wagon friendly, but I recommend letting the kids get down and get dirty or carrying them. Goats and chickens you see immediately, followed by pot belly pigs, geese, sheep and cows. This is a sanctuary for animals. They are cared for, not eaten. One of our favorite residents is Elsa, a cow who was born without eyes. We called her a few times and she came straight to the fence.

It rained a little while we were there so the boys decided it was best to take shelter in the gazebo.

I highly recommend taking an hour or two to visit this beautiful and friendly place. And make sure you stop in the thrift shop for a prize for your knights and princesses (It’s for a good cause after all!).
