On our way back from a trip to Florida (my husband and I had to travel separately this time), the boys needed a bathroom and everything was closed due to Covid restrictions. There’s not much in the way of bathroom stops on these mountain roads to start with! I hiked down into Tallulah Gorge years ago (that’s a whole other blog), so I pulled in hoping the bathrooms were open. It had been pouring and the rain seemed to just turn off as we pulled in.
We paid the entrance fee of $5 (I’d have paid double for the bathroom by that time!) and headed toward the main parking. Although camping, hiking, and other fun things are available, the gift store and information center was still closed. The bathrooms were very clean.

We needed a stretch break and I wanted to take full advantage of the break in the rain, so off we went to the first look out. Beautiful! Lots of railing (very comforting with two rambunctious knights). Even if you don’t have time to stay the night, take the hike! It’s worth it!
Now, for those with knights ready for more extensive backwoods training, they do offer permits to hike down into the gorge. Again, this is a whole other blog. For more information https://gastateparks.org/TallulahGorge
