Common Ground Park, Lakeland, FL

This gem is easy to miss, tucked across from a golf course and next to tennis courts, but it’s maybe the coolest public park I have ever visited. It is gated off but so big you could still lose your family members quite easily. I recommend designating a meeting place and being ready to move off your shady bench or maybe stationing grown ups from your party throughout the park would be good. There is a lot of seating throughout the park.

It’s like a park city. There are several different play stations full of imagination boosting themed activity options. It had several accessibility options that blended seamlessly with each station and incorporated the landscape as well. My boys particularly enjoyed climbing the rocks to get to the slide and the tunnel built into a manmade hill of astroturf, perfect for rolling down.

There are benches, stools, and picnic areas throughout the park and accessible restrooms. This is a park we will definitely visit again when we visit my mom and dad. Though next time I will bring more drinks and snacks and dress the knights in neon armor so I can find them.
